BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation
The BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation is a well-respected, non-profit foundation dedicated to working with educators to bring BC’s agriculture to students within the province of BC. In the spring of 2005, the Board of Directors and the Executive Director commissioned HR architects to develop a new Strategic Plan to guide them into 2010. This project was funded and supported by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC and was therefore examined and monitored along the way to ensure a successful planning process was followed and a future focused plan developed for the Foundation.
The process included the facilitation of focus groups to ensure stakeholder input, the review of external and internal documentation to ensure all internal and external environmental opportunities and challenges were identified and evaluated, and the facilitation of the Board strategic planning session.
The final strategic plan identified and prioritized five (5) strategic focus areas that addressed the Foundation’s critical issues. A key concept of the plan was alignment – the strategic focus areas were not exclusive of one another and are dependent upon one another to achieve desired results.

The BCGGA represents almost all greenhouse vegetable farmers in BC’s lower mainland and Vancouver Island.
The process involved conducting focus groups with key stakeholders (members, non-members, and staff). The input from these stakeholder groups provided background for the Board of Directors in setting the Mission and purposes of the association and setting the future direction.
A facilitated Board strategic planning discussion provided the basis for the 1st draft strategic plan. A 2nd Board session reviewed the content to ensure it reflected the desired future for BCGGA and its’ collective membership.
